Franchisee spotlight: Lauren Sparkles

Lauren Sparkles is one of our standout success stories — a brilliant example of how performers and educators can build a flexible, rewarding and sustainable career through the Lucy Sparkles & Friends franchise model. An accomplished singer, dancer, actress and session musician, Lauren holds a Bachelor of Performing Arts (Hons) from Winchester University plus Grade 8 Ballet, Classical Singing and Musical Theatre. She brings her musical talents, including piano and ukulele, into her classes and training.
Lauren began her journey as our very first franchisee, launching the following territories:
Canonbury, Highbury and Islington
What makes Lauren’s story so inspiring is how she balances business ownership with a flourishing performance career. Alongside running her franchises, she has performed on international cruise lines, in top London venues such as the legendary Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club, and most recently toured the UK in HERE & NOW: The Steps Musical. She also toured in the So Lucky musical, another large-scale professional production.

What our franchisees say
“As a mum of two small children, I’ve arranged my schedule so that I’m able to do nursery school pickups whilst still having a rewarding and stimulating job during the day!” – Sarah Sparkles
“It’s great being your own boss! I have the flexibility to organise my own schedule and manage my day in a way that works for me. ” – Lauren Sparkles
“In only half a year of being a Sparkles Business Owner I have developed a real passion for this side of the job and I am excited to learn and grow more!” – Emma Sparkles
“ I love watching both the children and the teachers grow. Whether it’s a child who finally, after weeks of dance classes, learns how to skip… or even the baby who learns when it’s time to wave in the hello song. It is pure happiness! ” – Lauren Sparkles
Frequently asked questions
Do I need experience in teaching or performing arts?
No previous experience is required. Full training is provided in all aspects of running your franchise. All our classes involve singing, so whilst you do not need to be the best singer in the world, being able to sing confidently and in tune is important. A sparkly, warm, engaging personality is essential and far more important to us than any formal qualifications or previous experience.
Can I run classes around my existing schedule?
Yes! Our business model allows flexible hours to fit around family commitments or other work.
How many programs can I offer?
Franchisees can offer four unique educational programmes: Drama, Music, Dance, and Ukulele & Musicianship.
Prefer to join us as a teacher or entertainer instead?
If you’d love to spark joy but aren’t ready to run a business, we offer flexible teaching and performing roles across the UK.
